Do you have a watchword, quote, guide etc that you daily confess before you set out for the day's activities? Of course, it is very essential for you as a believer (a spiritual man) to observe your quite time and daily devotion, which entails your studying of the word, reading of daily guides or devotionals and prayers etc. Most of those consistent with these, do make their confessions for the day, week, month or year which is not wrong, in fact helpful to strengthen faith, stay focused and hoping or trusting in God.
I don't know if some of us already have any scriptural (not only motivational) quotes or Bible verses (probably on wallpapers or in a framed picture) that we hang on the walls of our homes or rooms where they are visible and mostly seen? We'll notice how familiar we are with them, yet some of us don't engage them in our daily confession as our commitment to God.
There's power in confession because there's power in what you say, declare, proclaim, confess, affirm, command and decree, especially when we do it wholeheartedly by faith. So, I'll suggest, if you are among those who do not engage in daily confession of scriptural (not only motivating) guides, quotes or commitment, it's best you start now. Write them and paste them on the walls closes to you, just like a student's timetable or daily routine, and you can further go on to purchasing those that are already in frames or wallpapers. Make it practical!
Did I say you shouldn't use your Bible for confession or you should neglect it? No, but don't forget that the more you confess positively to your spirit man, the more intoxicated and addicted he becomes to the word of God. If Jesus confessed and declared what was written about Him (Luke 4:18-19 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.), then you aren't exempted.
Phil 1:6 - KJV: That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
ESV: and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.
NIV: I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.
AMP: [And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory].
Do you know what tonic means? A substance with medicinal properties intended to restore or invigorate. Someone or something that revitalises or reinvigorates (that is, to give new life, energy or strength to someone or something). That is what the word of God (scriptural because it is spiritual, not only motivational) and positive confession does to your Spirit, Soul and Body.
Here is my own commitment which I had drafted out of a book I once read. The writer said it was declared by an African Pastor and when he came across it, he made it his own commitment too and he termed it "My Commitment to Christ's Commission". He said he produced and pasted it by his bedside. I love it and I'll like to share it below because I have been engaging it as my daily confession:
"I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of His. I won't look back, let up, show down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secured. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colourless dreams, tamed vision, mundane talking, cheap living and dwarf goals.
I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotion, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have time to be first, top, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, live by prayer, and labour by power.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, preached up, for the course of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go until He comes, give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me, my banner will be clear! Amen".
