Have you been frustrated by not being able to heal the sick yet, raise the dead or perform signs, wonders and miracles that you presume to be the least Jesus or the Apostles did during their lifetime? Have you ever been in situations or circumstances that needed healing or breakthrough, either physically or spiritually, which you responded to privately or publicly (not by your mere right motives but under the direction of the Spirit) and after your faith prayer, accompanied with the right question and charisma, turned out to no avail?
Even though you fasted and prayed to the extent that your spirit man boils and quickens you to engage the supernatural on the disables, yet after yielding, few of those occasions turned positive (after longer time than you expected) while others, (to avoid shame) you concluded they are the ones whose faith isn’t enough or they didn’t believe.
Do you ever feel ashamed, dejected and confused on some situations that are yet to bow despite your personality as a believer or the well known Man of God (MOG)? Is it possible that God doesn’t want His word to work at times or to set some to be free? Is it His desire to see men still languishing in bondage or is it that men have failed to understand and act on their part based on their level of faith? Check this below:
You are not the only one who has ever failed in making his/her faith work (neither are you going to be the last) despite your knowledge of the word, fervent prayer and fasting to engage the supernatural power of God in you. Take a closer look at these verses: Matt 17:15-21 - Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. and Matt 14:28-30 - And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? .
If the Apostles who God used to perform greater works as proclaimed by Christ, had once failed in making things happen, and in fact, you could ascertain from the History of our Patriarchs (MOG) and fathers in faith (who have walked mightily in the supernatural), how they had recorded several times in their lifetime that they couldn’t move mountains or uproot trees or manifest in the least of spiritual gifts.
Does that mean they have not been praying, fasting or studying? No, many of them devoted their lives to God but their walking in the supernatural didn’t just happen at a time, it involved their faith growing from little to developed or full grown or matured (including the Apostles). You can verify the reason why the Apostles beseech Jesus to increase their faith (Luk 17:5).
Has it ever been recorded in the scripture that Jesus (100% God, 100% Man) ever failed in performing any task supernaturally? No, why? Because Jesus walked in supernatural dimension by engaging the “all faith or gift of faith or full grown faith”, even when He said His time had not come. Shall we study the scripture, compare, contrast and grasp the truth?
From Luk 17:6 and Matt 17:20; (Weymouth’s translation says: “If you had faith that grows as a grain of mustard seed…”). Many misunderstood these verses as “it just takes a little bit of faith to do big things”, whereas Jesus wasn’t saying we need a tiny bit of faith, as a tiny seed, and then we can move trees and mountains. Rather, the faith that grows as a grain of mustard seed, will attract signs and wonders (Mrk 16:17-18). What does that mean? (Matt 13:31-32 - Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.).
Though, little faith will do some things; big faith bigger things, but the ideal Jesus taught was faith that grows; faith to faith (Rom 1:17) that we progress toward ultimate, mature faith. In fact, Apostle Paul explains that it took all or total or full grown faith to move mountains (1Cor 13:2).
Back to (Matt 17:20 - And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.), the word is not “unbelief” in the original Greek word, rather “little faith” or “undeveloped faith”. Jesus didn’t mean unbelief (a negative force) because the disciples wouldn’t have tried to cast out devils if they didn’t believe. They did their charismatic treatment, shook him, said “in the name of Jesus”, yet – “little faith”. They had “seed faith” and a “tree sized problem”.
Jesus therefore taught them that if their faith develops or grows as mustard seed (2Cor 3:18) and continues to grow, nothing shall be impossible (Matt 17:20). Check also (Matt 14:31). Don't forget that the disciples’ faith kept growing when they went to preach – Luk 9:6,10,10:17.
Faith grows:
=> By hearing (the voice of God – Matt 17:21, Rom 10:17)
=> By speaking (the faith of God that speaks - Mrk 11:22-23, Gen 1:3-4,14, Rom 10:8-10, Rev 12:11)
=> By Obedience (not imitating another man’s faith – Jam 1:22, Jh 14:20-21)
=> In stages (Matt 13:31, 17-20, 2Cor 3:18).
(Rom 12:3b -... but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.) Even though faith has been given to every man in measures (metron – limited portion) for the gift of God (Grace - Eph 2:8-9) to be manifested and effective; yet God never wills for men to fail in performing the supernatural.
