There are some things that needs to be corrected on writing based on mindsets and ideology, that we ought to know and that would serve as foundation and soil which would in turn fertilize our engagement in Prophetic Writing and the Prophetic in Writing respectively.
The first is; "God is not a Writer and not involved in Writing".
Can you imagine such assumption? That's a total fallacy. You have to know that it is not true and I'm going to prove to you that God (the Trinity) is a writer, the inspiration and influence of good or godly writings and even the first author of books. (2Tim 3:15-17)
He wrote with His fingers twice and has a figurative or symbolic book He keeps writing or blotting out the names of people - The Book of Life. (Exo 24:12, 31:18, 32:15-16, 34:1)
Another one very common is; "Writing is only meant for Writers".
First of all, if we don't understand the essence or purpose of writing and it's benefits, we won't understand that everybody should be able to write.
Let me share with you a few but the most popular: inform, entertain, explain, persuade, express feelings, explore an idea, evaluate, mediate, problem solving, argue for or against an idea etc.
Almost every child goes to school (at least primary and secondary) and are taught reading and writing. What is writing and who are writers?
Writing according to the English Dictionary is the process of representing languages as symbols and letters or the work of an author. Writers are people who write or produce literary work.
Now, if literacy and education is tied to reading and writing, and almost everyone is expected to be able to write either legibly or not, then there's no excuse that writing is only meant for writers; instead everyone is a writer except for profession(alism) or area of specialization as the definitions implied above.
The same goes with books. Almost everyone owns a book but not everyone is an author.
If God orchestrates writing, check these verses of scriptures to see how He instructed men to write starting from Moses. A proof that all scriptures and godly writings are inspired by God (the Holy Spirit). (Exo 17:14, 24:4, 32:32-33, 34:1,27-28, 1Jh 1:1-4)
The only aspect we can't blame God is human's knowledge, interpretation and construction that guides his mode of writing which is based on such person's exposure in literacy or education that at times is related to his experience in writing.
That is why, if you aren't educated, God won't use you effectively as He ought to. You will be limited in some way. Although it doesn't generally guarantee your capacity of service to God.
In fact, it can be opposite like Peter who's not learned but sent to preach the Gospel to the Jews and Paul who's learned but sent to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles where his education almost proved useless.
Apostle Peter couldn't even write the Gospel of Mark and his books in the Bible, they were all dictated by him but written by Mark. Whereas, Apostle Paul wrote the most epistles by revelation but coupled with the use of his education.
Just like Moses, who grew up (taught and educated) as an Egyptian unlike his people who weren't educated. You saw how useful he was in writing and leadership.
Now, "Why Writing?"
Don't die with what you know. Transfer your knowledge to the present and coming generations. No matter how little it is, it would save some who are ignorant and deficient in the same growth of knowledge.
Your life is a book on its own just like the Bible is an Holy book that helps to know God even though we don't see Him with our physical eyes.
If scriptures are not put into writing (scripts or letters); what would be our fate, basis of knowledge and proofs of revelation etc as believers? If you restrict everything you received from God (by any means) to speaking, it favors the blind but what then is the fate of the deaf and dumb? You need to avoid the barriers and flaws of the tongue by switching to the hands (pen) of a (skillful) ready writer - Ps 45:1.
If there are no books written, what would people after you read for knowledge?
Another myth is; "Writing is Hard".
What is not hard in this world? Nothing is easy except one is determined to keep doing it until it becomes easy in doing. Anything that you aren't committed to with your heart and mind, and determined to succeed in it will never be easy; it is not a curse.
Everything will seem hard until you start doing something and doing it till you succeed. Writing is easy for those that keep writing as they are inspired. Every work, course, skill etc is easy if we keep doing it with the right mind, approach, development, people etc. (Pro 22:29)
The next one is; "Writing should only be Free and not for Sale".
Nothing is free in this world. I repeat, nothing. Even water is not free, you do the work of using your eyes and legs to locate where it is and your hands and mouth to fetch it and drink. The same as food and every work on earth.
Even the devil doesn't give anything for free. You would think it's a curse but it's a blessing - a way of saving ourselves from natural death - feeding, living, fruitfulness, fulfillment and multiplication on earth since we'll die naturally anyway.
You have to rise to responsibility and stop being lazy. Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might and smartly (by the help of God) with improvement, development, creativity, excellence etc and you'll succeed with it. (Ecc 9:10)
So, don't expect writing to be free as well. You'll need your brain, mind, knowledge (information through reading, learning courses, videos etc from people) and spiritual sensitivity to the inspirations from God to put the right things down.
You can choose to make it for free or sell it but yet, it is not free and your reward will never seize either monetarily or not.
Lastly; "Writing is done only on Paper or Books". Well writing is not only done in the form of writing alone, in terms of using the hand with writing materials like pen and ink or pencils, to put something down on paper, books or hardcopies. We are in a civilized world.
Other ways of writing are typing or texting, voice recording, video making etc. Yes they are part of it because you'd have done the same with your hand and convert to books but choose not to. All these other forms can be concerted to both softcopies and hardcopies of books.
"Engaging in Prophetic Writing".
What is Prophecy? It is normally (the documented words of) God speaking to man through man. Then, Prophetic Writing just like Prophetic Reading, Prayers, Worship etc is the Holy Spirit speaking through you on the basis of the scriptures, books or information (knowledge) in writing for others to read for Prophetic activations, confirmation, revelations etc.
"How should the Prophetic be operated?"
Through prayers and fasting, studying and reading of the Word in and by the Spirit in visions, dreams, trances, revelations etc either in the prophecy directly guven from God to such or through others. Examples of Prophetic Writings are majorly the books (in the Bible) written by Prophets or the Apostles that contained the prophecies of God.
I believe by now, with the online meetings done in the topic "Engaging the Prophetic in WRITING", you have been exposed, guided and instructed by spiritual revelation, Prophetic Teaching and Experience. Remain blessed.
Warnings: Be careful and cautious of writing in the flesh. Activate the Prophetic (sensitivity of the Spirit) by engaging spiritual activities with knowledge in conjunction with the scriptures.
-Don't trust hardcopies (books, papers, journals, jotters etc); you may lost them, be wise to convert to softcopies (ebooks or posts etc) and store in the internet. This is what I do every time. Even if you are dead on earth, your writings are safe, secured and easily accessible by the living souls.
