It's obvious that both salvation and temptation are not the same and do not mean the same but I also need to let you know that both are not meant for the same kind of people.
Salvation is not meant for believers again, they are already saved (regenerated in their spirits) and are attaining the salvation of their soul - which will be ultimate after departure from natural realm either by natural death or at rapture. (1Pet 1)
This shows that salvation is meant for unbelievers - those who are not yet saved (the unsaved). All through the Old Testament, the Lord God is the salvation men (fathers) of faith believed and that was offered to Israel and anyone, any nation or any nation's citizen that chooses to believe Him as the true God.
This same "Lord God" was prophecised by the Prophets to be offered as salvation to mankind by birth and would die and resurrect to complete man's redemption process. (Rom 4:3, Heb 11)
This is the same Jesus that came to the world and was offered as salvation. But only few accepted and believed Him while He was on earth. And after He died and resurrected, both those that died before and after Him, and those that were still living, were saved by faith because they all believed. (Matt 27:50-53)
Even till now, that same Jesus Christ is the salvation (Gospel) believers offer to the unbelievers. And whoever accepts it by confession, repentance and believing through faith, becomes free from eternal damnation. (Rom 10:8-10)
Now, opposite to the above is temptation. It has been in place for whoever is of God. It started right from the beginning (Eve) and has been endorsed or orchestrated by the temper - the devil. God does not tempt anyone, He only tests men.
Though he may permit the tempter, but He won't permit such temptation that is above any believer's measure of faith. (Matt 4:3, 1Thess 3:5, Jam 1:12-15, 1 Cor 10:13)
Let's balance the two by considering their meaning, aim or goal. Temptation is the offering of death through sin by the means of lust, that is, the luring or enticing of one by the devil through lust, to sin for such such to die.
While salvation is the offering of life through faith by the means of the Gospel, that is, the preaching of the Gospel (good news - Jesus) by a believer to an unbeliever, to accept by faith for such to live. (Rom 6:16-18, 22-23)
This shows that the same way salvation is meant to save men from sin and eternal damnation, temptation is to kill men, that is, to make men fall into sin and death (and this is pertaining to the soul - to affect its renewal, so that a believer will not be able to be sensitive to the things of God but carnal things).
Salvation have effect on both spirit and soul of a man, temptation affects only the soul of man. Salvation is to bring men from death to life while temptation is the other way round. (Jam 1:12-15)
Both salvation and temptation are dependent on man's choice (will) but are influenced by God and the devil respectively. They are both restricted to the process of faith.
But thanks be to God, the same way salvation is to be accepted by confessing the Lordship of Jesus the savior, so is the overcoming of temptation by the Word of God. (Luk 4:1-13)
The same way the Holy Spirit convicts the heart of men to accept salvation, so does He teach us how to overcome temptation because He reprove the world of Sin, Righteousness and Judgment to keep us away from the devil. Hallelujah 🙌 (Jh 16:7-14)
