Some of us need to learn how to respect the ancient spirit of the only True God and Triune deity - Holy Spirit.
Your biological parents that you call daddy and mummy today might of course be so close to you as friends that you can tell them almost anything.
But you see, if you pass your boundaries, you'll be shocked they'll tell you "oo ti koja ibawi tabi nino o" - "you are not yet beyond scolding or spanking".
To tell you to know your place not just as a dear son or daughter, but respect them as your parents because you aren't age mates.
If you permit familiarity with your parents, you will definitely be a spoilt brat (child).
You see that same Holy Spirit that Pastor Adeboye calls his Daddy to show the intimacy or familiarity as a friend but much more the respect he has for the Father as His dear son; is what most young believers have bastardized or regard today without any sign of respect at all.
Should we say it's because of the level of knowledge? What do we know that's beyond what the Fathers knew? Is it not the same Bible or Scriptures? Is it not this same God of our Fathers? Is it not the same Spirit in the Old Testament and New Testament? Come on.
Of course, He can be your comforter but if you don't regard Him as your teacher ehn, you will go astray like a lost sheep.
If you permit familiarity with your teacher, you will be a stubborn student that can hardly be corrected.
If you only see Jesus as your saviour, friend or lover and not your master or Lord, you are missing it big time.
Even Jesus being God in man, the person of the Godhead; haven't you seen in the scriptures how He honours, respect, highly esteem, humbles before and submits to His Father before men?
That He is one with God - the Trinity does not connote His overfamiliarity. He did the same for His biological parents (that He's even spiritually greater than), can you imagine? Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever more.
If you don't know Jesus, you can't know Christ. Respect the God that came in flesh as Man (Jesus) and is made whole as God in Man (Christ).
If as a sister, you (only see and) regard the Holy Spirit like you do to your friends and fellowship sisters who you call girlfriends without any iota of respect like Mama, you are wrong and might be blind when He tells you to accept the proposal of that poor but rich in future brother o.
If as a brother, you only see the Holy Ghost as your MOG (Man of God) and not as your guy (padi), you may find it difficult to know that thin but heavy in future Sister you are to marry o.
If you only see the Holy Spirit as an all round authority like your Spiritual Father and you don't tell Him everything about yourself every now and then, I'm sorry, deep secrets of the Kingdom (and His Father) may not be revealed onto you.
Even for those in relationship (like what our generation is missing), if what they see about their spouse is a friend, brother or sister not the biblical Wife (submission and respect) or husband (provision and love - care and attention) that our parents imbibe and have had long lasting marriages ever till today; you may keep struggling.
That is the foremost key to relating with the Holy Spirit.
Know how to balance and switch to the mode of the Holy Spirit. It will be based on your own spiritual mood and need too. Whenever you are in need of comfort, He'll do so as a friend and brother or sister.
Whatever you don't know as a student, He'll teach you as a teacher based on your relationship though - distant or close.
When you are lost, He'll guide and direct you. When you misbehave and feels condemned, He'll intercede on your behalf to the Father through Jesus.
If because you are conversant with the gifts of the Spirit on you, given by the Holy Ghost and you despise the Holy Spirit, don't be shocked you'll lack fruits.
If you get too familiar with fruits of the Spirit and you despise gifts, don't blame God you don't manifest gifts o.
You'll be shocked it's the same Spirit functioning upon and within. But you'll miss it on either one if you don't respect both manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus cried "Abba, Father" (Mrk 14:36) and "My God" (Mrk 15:34), He didn't command or demand as a friend would but He cried as a dear son (or daughter) would; the same way the Holy Spirit (Ghost) cries for and from within a believer (Rom 8:26, Gal 4:6).
Let down your ego and cry by the Spirit in you to the Father - Abba Father (Rom 8:15, 1Cor 14:2). Learn to respect all the Godhead. Jesus Christ is God. Holy Spirit (Ghost) is God. Learn to respect the Holy Spirit (Ghost).
